We follow the NCETM Mastering Number Framework for teaching maths. The children receive a daily whole class input to learn about fundamental early maths concepts.

The children have opportunities to reinforce and develop their understanding through group activities with an adult, accessing mathematical resources and games in their play (continuous provision time) and through daily class routines.


Our aim is for the children to develop a positive attitude to maths and to leave the EYFS with a strong sense of number so that they work with fluidity when manipulating numbers as they progress through the school. Looking for patterns and relationships between numbers is fundamental to this.


The children also have opportunities to develop their sense of spatial awareness and pattern, knowledge of basic shapes and understanding of how to use measure for different purposes.
